Velden am Wörthersee becomes a city of angels during Advent: children’s eyes sparkle with excitement as they discover the Angel Post Office and Angel Bakery, as they do at the sight of a huge floating Advent crown, 25 meters in diameter and adorned with 80,000 lights. The Angel Train, Angel Ship “Santa Lucia”, Advent concerts, a floating Nativity scene and an arts & crafts exhibition all do their bit to get you in the perfect mood for the upcoming Christmas celebrations.
The Christmas market held on the Neuer Platz in Klagenfurt enjoys a reputation as a stage for regional folk heritage and numerous festive Advent events, a reputation that extends far beyond the province’s borders. A wide selection of products, one of the biggest Krampus parades in Austria, as well as the Advent ship run by the Wörthersee ferry service, add the finishing touches to a truly unique atmosphere.
