Cycling along the river „Drau“: The trail „Drauradweg“ streches 460 kilometers from Lienzer Dolomiten through Carinthia`s lake district up to the Slovenian town of Marburg. You should take extra time to enjoy the idyllic valley of Rosental which offers a fabulous view of the Karawanken mountains. Families like this trail very much. For cyclists it`s also possible to reach the valley of Rosental directly from Klagenfurt, Carinthia`s capital: The “Loiblradweg” leads from Klagenfurt to the “Tscheppa-Gorge”.

Climbing in the Karawanken mountains: Alpinists and hikers get their money`s worth in the valley of Rosental. The region offers them a network of well marked mountain trails, from easy to medium to handle trails as well as alpine trails. For the well deserved break you will enjoy the hospitality of authentic Austrian alm huts.

Canyoning in one of the most beautiful gorges of Carinthia: The „Tscheppa-Gorge“ overwhelms visitors with its rushing waterfalls, a spectacular spiral staircase and a rope bridge. Why not get the ultimate kick? Canyoning. Sportfreaks love this kind of cooling down on hot summer days.

Waterfun: Off the beaten track there are the natural lakes in St. Johann, Ressnig and Kirschentheuer, as well as the Bio-Pool Centris or the “Freibacher Stausee” (reservoir). No visit would be complete without a canoe tour on the river Drau.

Gunsmithing of international reputation: Ferlach’s gunsmiths used the traditional processing of steel to develop a handicraft of gunsmithing which became famous for its precision. The fine work of the engravers also earned international fame. The museum of gunsmithing and hunting in Ferlach`s Castle focuses on how the region developed into a famous site for producing the finest hunting weapons.

A mile of culture with Landart: The valley of Rosental is also known for its „Landart“. This art is based on the materials provided by nature itself and is set in natural surroundings. Artists use natural materials such as stones and leaves in their work to underline the beauty of natural sites in the Rosental valley.

Rosental Castle trail: The road „Schlösserstraße” leads to the Rosental valley’s four special cultural sites. The road goes from Rosegg Castle in the west along the river Drau to Ferlach Castle in the southeast of the valley. It crosses „Carinthia`s hidden treasures“ such as galleries, churches and historic buildings. A steam train and an oldtimerbus from Ferlach to Weizelsdorf capture the spirit of bygone days.
