Rosegg Animal Park
Only 5 minutes from Velden am Wörthersee, the Rosegg Animal Park has been an all-weather magnet for visitors to the Wörthersee, Faaker See und Ossiacher See for over 25 years. Ever year, the better part of 80,000 visitors come to this, the biggest animal park in all of Carinthia, located on historic grounds including the ruins of Rosegg Castle and the walls of the animal park, constructed by the infamous counterfeiter, Ritter von Bohr, in 1830 – serving as home to some 400 animals and 35 different species. A snack bar also ensures that no one, big or small, ever goes hungry. And for kids, the small-animal zoo and the big playground are a total hit.

Rosegg Castle
Rosegg Castle has been owned by the Liechtenstein Family since 1831. Prince Johannes von Liechtenstein procured the castle from Peter Ritter von Bohr for one of his sons. The castle was inhabited until the 1970’s, subsequently remaining uninhabited until 1995, but now serving again as a residence since 1997. Visitors can visit Austria’s first “Cabinet of Figures” with its life-size models! Exhibitions by contemporary artists can also be viewed here, while this is also a venue for an array of summer events, concerts, theatrical performances and a small castle café.

Rosegg Maze
Situated between Rosegg Castle and the animal park is the biggest maze in Austria, opened in July 2001. Over 3,000 yoke elm on an area of some 2,400 square metres form a hedgerow which is one kilometre in length. A tower at the centre serves an orientation point. Immediately adjacent to the garden labyrinth, another maze was created in a corn field on 1.3 hectares of land.
