Suggestion: Start in Windisch Bleiberg, at 948 m above sea level.
A tunnel entrance below the church, which is dedicated to the patron saint of miners - St. Erhard - bears witness to the mining past in Windisch Bleiberg. Along the Bodenbach stream at the "Felsentor" rest area or via historic connecting paths uphill, with further rest areas, you reach the hidden Bodental valley. You continue along the valley floor through old cultivated landscape, past the vacation homes, to the legendary "Meerauge". The highlight of the circular hike is the most beautiful valley head of the Karawanken, "the fairytale meadow". The film about Ötzi, the Iceman, was shot here in 1998. On the wooded way back, you gain altitude and have a fantastic view of the vertical, jagged rock faces of the Zelenitza and Vertatscha at many striking points, such as from the "Rjautzablick" high seat. On the sunny slope, the trail leads past old farms and you hike through mountain and flower meadows, rich in botanical rarities. With "fairytale views" of the highest peaks of the Karawanken from the Koschuta to the Hochstuhl, you return to the starting point.
