Every Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a wide variety of specialties from the region and the Alps-Adriatic region can be purchased at Gemonaplatz. Whether freshly harvested vegetables, wholemeal bread, homemade Carinthian pasta variations, smoked fish or seasonal lamb - the offer is varied and diverse. Handmade bakery and pasta products, meat products, dairy products, fruit and also pastries such as cream slices, gibanica and pita from Slovenia, are part of the assortment.
Furthermore, jams, honey, oils and hemp products can be purchased. Home-made juices, wine, cider and beer combined with a hearty Brettljause (snack) including cheese, salami and bacon invite you to linger at the market at the gastronomic stand or the nearby cafés.
The Velden weekly market takes place all year round, except on public holidays and in January. It is an initiative of the market community and the Velden Tourist Board to enable local consumers to shop locally and sustainably.
