Castle Landskron, Austria's most beautiful place in 2023, will become the stage for "The Curse of the Rose".
The audience accompanies the dramatic life journey of two young people who know nothing about their own origins in a turbulent time around 1500. Maria grows up as the illegitimate adopted daughter of Hans Fugger in the Fuggerau smelting plant near Arnoldstein. Johannes, the son of a Spanish noblewoman, is taken in by monks at the age of two amid the chaos of war following his mother's death, raised in the monastery, and ordained as a priest. Johannes and Maria feel drawn to each other, but the clerical state and a murderous monk who wants to destroy them stand in the way of their happiness.
