Those who join the Solstice Hike aren’t out to win a race; instead, they view participation entirely in the spirit of “The journey is the destination!” Consequently, for many hikers, the idea of “reaching the finish” and the “shared experience” are just as central as the spiritual aspect. The conscious awareness of the sun’s changing path continues to inspire many people today and is an expression of a deep connection to nature!

The 30 km half-distance of the Magical Solstice Hike takes participants from the start at the music pavilion in Pörtschach via the Hohe Gloriette, Sekull and the Forstsee to Velden am Wörthersee. The first stopover is at the Velden spa gardens. The route continues towards Schiefling and past the Trattnigteich pond up to the Pyramidenkogel, where the official half-distance finish is located. Impressed by the sunrise on the world's highest wooden tower, the route continues downhill to Maria Wörth. There you take the boat back to the starting point in Pörtschach.
