instructions

After the start in Velden there is only a little time to roll in before it goes crisply via Techelsberg along the Ossiacher Tauern to Köstenberg. Via Damtschach and Wernberg there is plenty of time to catch your breath before you enter the 1987 World Championship cycling route at St. Niklas. Via Großsattel and Kleinsattel and the legendary Fuchsbichl you finally reach Drobollach on Lake Faak.

A quick glance across Lake Faak in the direction of Mittagskogel already tells you the next stage destination. Passing Carinthia's largest climbing area, the Kanzianiberg near Finkenstein and the Burgarena Finkenstein, it's time for climbing. At an altitude of 919m you will now reach one of the most beautiful views in Carinthia on the Baumgartnerhöhe. Enjoy the magnificent view over the Faaker See during a stop at the Baumgartnerhof. A rapid descent then leads you back to Lake Faak. Please be especially careful here, as there is always oncoming traffic and the road is damaged.

Back at Lake Faak, the route goes in the opposite direction over one of the notorious parts of the Ironman Austria course, the Ribnig. In this case, however, downhill. Then it continues to the turnoff St. Martin before Rosegg, where you have to take a 90° turn in the downhill section towards Orainsattel. Reduce speed in good time!

The Orainsattel is a short, crisp climb on a road with little traffic through a cool forest. Arrived in Ledenitzen you are again on the slightly descending gliding passage of the Ironman course to St. Jakob im Rosental. Up to St. Johann im Rosental you can let it run wonderfully. There follows a short detour with gradients of 15% over the Rabenberg to Weizelsdorf. At Kirschentheuer you cross the Drava river, which has accompanied you for a long time. Hollenburg and Plöschenberg are your next "opponents" to conquer. After 113km you will make a wonderful additional loop up to Zedras. Here you will again have to cope with gradients of about 15%. Another classic of the Ironman course follows (again in the opposite direction), the Rupertiberg.

Over some "waves" it goes among other things over St. Egyden and Penken, through wonderful landscape over Schiefling back down to the Wörthersee. Now you still have a few relaxed kilometers with Wörthersee view to let the round again before the deserved goal on you.
