Im Zentrum des Tierparkes Rosegg, auf dem strategisch bedeutenden Felshügel gelegen, befand sich die Burg der Ritter von Ras - heute Ruine Rosegg. Die Ritter von Ras sind die Namensgeber des Rosentales und des Ortes Rosegg.
Die Burg wurde um ca. 1150 erbaut und ging nach Aussterben der Raser Ritter an die Habsburger (14. Jh.). Bis 1801 war die Burg noch bewohnt, ca. 1829 wurden Teile der Burg abgetragen und für den Bau der Mauer rund um den Burgberg verwendet. Peter Ritter von Bohr schuf sich durch den Bau dieser Mauer ein eigenes Wildgatter und war somit auch der Begründer des heutigen Tierparks. 1831 ging die Burg in den Besitz der Familie Liechtenstein über.
Der Tierpark Rosegg ist der größte und artenreichste Tierpark Kärntens und ist ein Erlebnis für die ganze Familie. Vorbei an amerikanischen Bisonsn, Luchsen, Waldrappen, Steinböcken, Hirschen und vielen mehr spaziert man in weiträumigen Parkanlagen und Wiesen. Aus nächster Nähe kann man die Tiere beobachten, fotografieren, filmen und im Kleintierzoo füttern und berühren.
