This demanding hike is especially interesting for sporty ambitious mountaineers. The first part leads over the so-called "Raketensteig", which lives up to its name and has a decidedly steep path. The reward for the efforts are really fantastic views in all directions: The striking rocky outcrops of the Kotla are just as impressive as the steep rock faces of the Karawanken, which tower into the sky on the south side. Towards the east, the view sweeps to Hochobir, Petzen, Koralpe and Saualpe. To the north, the view glides over the town of Ferlach to Klagenfurt on Lake Wörthersee. The Hohe Tauern with its Königing - the Hochalmspitze can also be seen and in clear air, the highest mountain in Austria, the Großglockner, can also be seen in the west.

From the end of Josef-Marx-Gasse via Schaidaweg to the Schaidabauer inn and from there behind the house into the forest. At the fork in the trail, keep left until you reach the spring (½ hour), where the actual hunting trail begins, which leads past the falls on the Ferlach side and also comes to the Loibltal side in several turns, passes the hunting lodge on the Sechterrücken and then meets the trail from Waidisch (Weitwanderweg 603) on the east side of the Ferlacher Horn ( Gerloutz) at a spring with trough. From here it is still about 350 meters in altitude to the summit cross of the Ferlacher Horn. The way back leads either over the same way as the ascent or one follows the long-distance hiking trail 603 towards the west and reaches the Gasthof Deutscher Peter in the Loibltal via the Eselsattel. Return to Ferlach either with the "Tscheppabus" or with the private cab.
