The entrance is at the lowest point of the north ridge, which is reached via a scree field. Very steep and exposed you climb on a stem (wire rope, row of clamps). Via a slab traverse to the left, you reach a chimney-like gully, through which you reach easier terrain (rest bench). In the sparsely wooded terrain (some ropes) you pass the junction of the old path, traverse along insurances to the right and then climb up a gully. After a secured crack you reach walking terrain with some easy secured places and very easy scree climbing. Via wooden ladders you reach a short piece of ridge. Then climb up the right edge of a gully, descend briefly and reach the ridge again. After a short secured section follows walking terrain until a traverse to the left leads into a saddle. Through a short secured gully upwards you reach the Steigbuch. Then follows walking terrain to the border ridge (some easy secured places). On this ridge you first reach the summit cross, which is located slightly below the highest point, and then the actual summit (Buch).

Descent: From the exit follow the marked path ascending to the summit of Hochstuhl. On Slovenian territory, descend to the saddle between Hochstuhl and Kleinstuhl. Then descend on a gravel path (unpleasant) or through scree straight down into a cirque. At a fork in the path, keep left (inscription on rocks: "Klagenfurter Hütte"). Climbing again, you pass the Bielschitzasattel (state border) and descend a scree slope (briefly secured) down to the Klagenfurter Hütte. From the hut on the forest road or on the hiking trail back to the ascent path.
