From the Martiner Hütte it goes over the Fuchskogel, past the beautiful Wildsee, up to the Zirbitzkogel. The Zirbitzkogel, which is well developed for tourism, is a very popular area for hikers and tourers. Numerous mountain lakes characterize the Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park, along with meadows, alpine pastures and forests. Its name is not derived, as is often assumed, from the Swiss stone pines that grow in places in the area, but from the Slovenian zirbiza, which can be translated as red alpine pasture and refers to the frequently occurring rust-leaved alpine rose.

The last section of the Panoramaweg Südalpen leads back in the direction of Lavantsee to the Tonnerhütte turnoff. Turn right here and walk downhill over lush alpine pastures to the Tonnerhütte. Now you can put your feet in the hole - what remains are wonderful memories of a beautiful long-distance hiking trail.
