Pass the medieval walls of the old castle. Experience the large animal family of Rosegg: American bison, forest bustards, golden jackals, but also the ibex - the "King of the Alps". Observe also lynxes, rare deer species, including the hardly known white red deer, and many other animals.

An absolute hit with children is the small animal zoo around the large playground: here ponies, dwarf donkeys and goats, rabbits and other small animals with their young ones are happy to be petted and fed.
In the zoo buffet you can fortify yourself and enjoy the peaceful view of the animals.

The Rosegg Castle

Rosegg Castle was built by Prince Franz Xaver von Orsini-Rosenberg (1723-1796), a contemporary and patron of Mozart, for his Italian mistress Madame Lucrezia. Since 1831, the castle has been owned by the Liechtenstein family. Experience an exciting journey into the past in the rooms of the castle: life-size wax figures in magnificent costumes and uniforms tell you their story.
While you learn about the background to this palace building and the times of Maria Theresa and Napoleon via audio system, your children will experience an exciting guided tour for children. A fascinating adventure for the whole family!
You will find relaxation in the castle café.

The labyrinth at Rosegg Castle

The largest garden labyrinth in Austria was opened between the castle and the Rosegg Zoo in July 2001. More than 3000 hornbeams form a hedge of one kilometer length on an area of 2.400 square meters. A tower in the center serves as an orientation point.

The labyrinth is a classic element of garden design and flourished in England in the 17th and 18th centuries. There were also garden labyrinths in Austria, the most important of them at Schönbrunn in Vienna. In Rosegg, a large English park existed from 1776, which belonged to the castle. It was located on an island in the river Drava and was destroyed by a flood around 1825.

Right next to the labyrinth are the castle and the largest Carinthian zoo, the Rosegg Zoo. The three excursion destinations are among the most popular in all of Carinthia and promise an eventful, exciting day in any weather!
