instructions

From the Stouhütte, take the summer driving path to the Joahannsenruhe (~1250m). After the Johannsenruhe, the trail climbs somewhat steeper on the right (western) edge of the valley. At about 1400m above sea level, you reach the treeless terrain of the Hochstuhlkar. There you turn to the south and climb higher under the walls of the Hochstuhl, before you keep slightly to the right to avoid the blocking rocks (Grüne Ries). At about 1900m above sea level you reach a steep gully, over which the ski mountaineer reaches the ridge (crampons required). From the ridge one climbs over the west shoulder to the summit of the Hochstuhl.

suggestion

The Hochstuhl is a classic spring tour. After snowy winters, this tour can sometimes still be done at the end of April. But then it is usually already possible to continue by car to the Bärental to the summer parking lot under the Joahnnsenruhe.
