The exhibition is also open on Saturday, September 20 from 11 AM to 1 PM and on Monday, September 22 from 6 PM to 9 PM for the closing event.
Based on small miniatures carved from wood scraps or self-cast bronze figures, multimedia long-term projects are conceived in the tension field of sculpture, photography, film, text, and image as well as expansive site-specific installations. Model-like snapshots engage viewers in mirrored poses and balance on the horizon between two worlds. They navigate the boundary between humor and seemingly fragile postures and explore the ambivalence of closeness and distance, of the hidden and transparency, of movement and sculpture, the unreal increase of our bodily tension.
Lorenz Friedrich: exhibitions and film festival participations in Austria and abroad. Recipient of national awards (Bank Austria Art Prize), various scholarships, and a residence in Paris as well as works in private and public collections (Museum of Modern Art Kärnten, Print Room [a] Vienna, City Gallery Klagenfurt, City of Villach).
