The courses are intended to give all interested parties - whether beginners or advanced - the opportunity to dive into the oil painting medium, learn the basics, and build upon existing knowledge.
Materials that must always be brought:
- Table easel
- Stretch canvas (25 x 25 cm for beginners, size according to choice of motive for advanced)
already stretched and primed with acrylic primer
- Palette (e.g., disposable palette)
- Oil paints (e.g., Norma by Schmincke, Rembrandt, or Lukas 1862)
- Brushes (Synthetic fiber, e.g., da Vinci with light green handle) for oil painting
(Flat brushes sizes 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
Round brushes size 2)
- Medium with small container
- Brush cleaner (e.g., Guardi, biodegradable) with container (e.g., jam jar)
- Paper towel or painting cloth (should not shed fibers)
- Disposable gloves (optional)
If medium, brushes, and oil paints (especially at the beginning) need to be provided, a fee of between 5 and 10 euros must be paid directly to Mrs. Markus-Erb, depending on the effort
Here are a few tips on the side:
Please do not skimp on materials. Cheap stretch canvases can warp easily, and oil paints that have insufficient pigment (e.g., studio quality) are cheap but do not cover well and can lead to a poor final result even with good technique – frustration is guaranteed (personal experience!). It is better to use fine or very fine artist colors.
Synthetic flat brushes from the brand da Vinci with a light green handle are very suitable for this type of painting.
All materials used here, except for the medium, can be purchased at Boesner or Gerstäcker.
