Travelling by train
Travel to the Wörthersee-Rosental region in comfort and in an environmentally friendly way. You can find connections and special offers with ÖBB, Deutsche Bahn and WESTbahn. The Koralmbahn significantly shortens the journey from Graz. Information on WESTbahn services stopping at Klagenfurt and Pörtschach can be found under ‘Off to the South’.
Car train: You can travel from Hamburg or Düsseldorf to Villach on the Urlaubs-Express. To continue your journey free of charge using the included rail connections, you’ll need your valid Wörthersee Plus Card, which has already been issued. Ask your accommodation provider about pre-check-in before you arrive.
International connections: You can search for and book cross-border train journeys via Trainline.
Tip: Advent hopping on the Koralmbahn

From December 2025, travelling during Advent will be even easier: with the new Koralmbahn, you can reach various Advent markets around Lake Wörthersee in style and comfort. No stress, no hunting for a parking space – just plenty of anticipation for the twinkling lights, the wintry atmosphere and regional Advent highlights. Simply hop on, sit back and enjoy the magic of the run-up to Christmas.

Travel in comfort and enjoy the magic of Advent
Reach the Advent markets on Lake Wörthersee easily with daily train services from St. Veit, Klagenfurt and Villach, running every half hour.
At the weekend, you can travel throughout the Carinthia Transport Association network with the ÖBB Carinthia Leisure Ticket – for €14.90 per adult and €7.90 per child per day.

Travelling sustainably
From 1 November 2026, you can explore the whole of Carinthia by bus and train from Lake Wörthersee: with your valid visitor’s card, you can use almost all public transport free of charge and without restriction – from the day of your arrival right through to the day of your departure.

A sea of lights and tranquillity: discover the Advent villages on Lake Wörthersee from the water. The Advent shuttle takes you from Velden via Maria Wörth to the Pyramidenkogel – for relaxing Christmas moments between the lake and the mountains.

The Advent boat trip is a truly special experience, allowing you to reach the Advent venues in complete comfort from the water!

MS Velden Express Service
Non-stop from Klagenfurt to Velden and back.
Tickets: Adults: €13, Children: €7
Tickets are valid for one-way travel only! Limited capacity – boarding cannot be guaranteed.
Tickets for the express service are only available on board the boat. Day tickets are not accepted.
Group bookings are not possible on the express service.
MS Pörtschach
Three Advent experiences, one special occasion. The MS Pörtschach takes you from Pörtschach to the Church Advent celebrations in Maria Wörth and to Advent De Luxe at Seefels Castle.

Dogs (with muzzle and lead): Free. Tickets are only valid for a single journey! Capacity is limited – we cannot guarantee that you will be able to board. The boat service is cancelled in the event of a storm. Information regarding weather-related cancellations will be posted on the website.
TIP: Guests arriving at Seefels Castle on the last MS Pörtschach ferry will be taken to Pörtschach on the free shuttle service upon request.
Pyramidenkogel Shuttle Bus | Advent Boat Tour
The shuttle bus takes you on a picturesque journey from Velden via Maria Wörth to the Pyramidenkogel.
Shuttle bus day ticket for adults: €10
Shuttle bus day ticket for children: €5 (aged 5 to 12)
Children aged 4 and under travel free. The Klimaticket Österreich, Klimaticket Kärnten and
Wörthersee Plus Card are not accepted as valid tickets
Combined ticket: Pyramidenkogel observation tower + boat + bus

Available on board the boat and at the observation tower
A shuttle bus runs between Velden, Reifnitz, Maria Wörth and the viewing tower on the Pyramidenkogel on the days when the Advent market is held. Wörthersee Schifffahrt operates a scheduled ferry service connecting Klagenfurt, Krumpendorf, Maria Wörth, Pörtschach and Velden.
