Advent in Velden A romantic Christmas fairy tale
There is a special magic to the Christmas season… and here in Velden, that magic comes to life.
The Velden ‘Engerl’ team will once again do their utmost this year to create a festive and tranquil atmosphere. Velden was, is and always will be the ‘City of Angels’ on Lake Wörthersee, a place that makes children’s eyes light up.
The Strandpark in front of the Schlosshotel and the lake provide the unrivalled backdrop for one of Austria’s most atmospheric Advent markets, which enchants its many visitors year after year.
It is a blend of festive treats, lovingly crafted handicrafts, warming fire pits in cosily arranged spaces with beautiful decorations, musical performances and warm hospitality that creates an unrivalled sense of well-being for all visitors to the Advent market.

Every year during Advent, a very special magic descends upon the famous town on Lake Wörthersee. The whole town is transformed into a romantic ‘city of angels’ and provides the backdrop for one of Austria’s most beautiful Advent markets. A select mix of exquisite handicrafts, culinary delights and the harmonious sounds of the festive season comes together to create a distinctive symphony. The floating Advent wreath, the symbol of the Velden Advent visible from afar, brings light and warmth to the hearts of the countless Advent visitors from near and far.
