With “My Life. My Friends,” Janko Ferk has written a captivating story of his life. The narrative focuses less on himself and more on all those he has encountered throughout his life who ultimately became friends.

He recounts the friendships chronologically. These connections give the book its structure. 

In the future, biographies should be written like the one Janko Ferk has created from his life with friends. He takes the risk and sensitively describes in this work his friendships with ten close companions, including Paul Flora and Eugen Freund. People with whom he could share “joy and sorrow,” exchange thoughts, and rely on. 

The Author:

Janko Ferk works and lives in Klagenfurt. He studied law, German philology, and history at the University of Vienna, and completed his doctorate with a thesis on the legal philosophy of Franz Kafka. He is a jurist, honorary professor at the University of Klagenfurt/Univerza v Celovcu, and a writer. He most recently published the narrative "My Life. My Friends" (2024) and the scientific essay collection “Peter Handke. Accompanying Letters, Conversations, and Agreements” (2024). For his literary and scientific works, he has received awards and honors, and most recently, the Federal President awarded him the Cross of Honor for Science and Art (2024).
