The Prince

In Berlin Cathedral, the body of a crucified priest is found. Under unclear circumstances, a fire breaks out in a migrant settlement, and separatist sentiments grow in certain federal states while toxic nationalism revives. Who benefits from these seemingly unrelated events? A ruthless prince, inspired by Gabriele D’Annunzio's Fiume experiment, who wants to revive the Germanic Empire? An intelligence organization that escapes democratic control? Or government members fighting for the highest office in the state? Berlin's Police President Tschapieski, journalist Dagmara Bosch, and Commissioner Kowalski delve into the depths of this case, where not only the future of the state is at stake.

Magdalena Parys, born in 1971, moved from Gdansk to Berlin as a child. She has lived there ever since and writes about German post-war history. So far, her novels have reached enormous print runs in Poland and France. Now she is conquering the German market. The author debuted with the fact-based thriller "Tunnel." Her novel "The Magician," which showcases intelligence actions in East and West, was awarded the European Union Literature Prize in its Polish original in 2015 and is the first volume of her Berlin trilogy. Translated into 19 languages so far, including French, Italian, and Spanish. The German translation comes from Lothar Quinkenstein, who, together with Hans Gregor Njemz, also transferred Volume 2 "The Prince" into German with great sensitivity. A particular concern of the author, who consciously moves between German and Polish culture, is socio-political themes, for which she publishes essays in the Gazeta Wyborcza, one of the most important Polish newspapers.

A garden of international caliber, unique in Austria, as it gathers over 280 species of citrus plants from around the world. A botanical garden where ancient varieties from the Medici collections of the 16th century can be admired, rare species, and exotic pieces from the Far East, Africa, America, as well as newer species from the Australian hemisphere. The total area of the 4000 m2 Mediterranean garden is partially covered, protecting visitors from adverse weather and allowing visits in any weather. The outdoor tour (only in the warm months) leads through the Mediterranean garden, lovingly designed with old citrus trees, palms, olives, and many other Mediterranean plants.
