Philipp Hochmair presents a new interpretation of Adalbert Stifter's "Der Hagestolz" and once again shows how classical texts can resonate and come to life in today's world.
The story from 1844 addresses themes such as marriage, family foundation, and heritage, and poses pressing questions about the future and the right way of life.
The star actor, who recently thrilled audiences as Jedermann in the Salzburg Cathedral Square, is accompanied by the progressive beats and sounds of "Elektrohand Gottes”, with Fritz Rainer on drums and Hanns Clasen on guitar, who is also responsible for sound and lighting design.
In his modern interpretation of the classical narrative, Hochmair once again proves to be an artist of impressive complexity and depth, and he walks, having crossed the threshold of his 50th year, on the fine line between youth and old age, openness and closedness, joy of life and hardness.
"Our reinterpretation of Hagestolz is a reminder that in the stories of yesterday, the questions and answers of today are also hidden. After all, art enables us in wonderful ways to view familiar patterns from a new perspective and to place them in the context of our modern world," says Philipp Hochmair.
