Description
This hike combines alpine nature, history, and Slovenian delicacies into a special excursion in the Loibl Pass area. Participants will start together at the inn "Deutscher Peter" and carpool to the starting point below the current Loibl Tunnel.
From there, the trail steadily ascends along the historic old Loibl Pass road, which once represented an important connection between Austria and its southern neighbor. Upon reaching the pass, you will be greeted by the distinctive obelisks of the former border crossing as well as an impressive panorama overlooking Austria and Slovenia.
Very close by is the destination of the hike: the cozy "Stari Loibl Hut." Here, typical Slovenian specialties can be tasted – a culinary highlight that perfectly rounds off the tour.
The elevation gain is about 300 meters, with a pure walking time of approximately three hours.
