Die Hollenburg, auf steilem Fels, hoch über dem Rosental, ist auch nach über 850 Jahren (1142 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt) als kulturhistorischer Mittelpunkt der Carnica-Region Rosental eine der bedeutendsten und schönsten Burgen Kärntens. Nach wechselvoller Geschichte, oft beschädigt (1348 Erdbeben, 1478 Brandraub der Türken, 1571 und 1690 Erdbeben, 1856 Blitzschlag und Brand) ist die Burg von dem Besitzer Dr. Kyrle in einem sehr guten Zustand versetzt, ein Anziehungspunkt besonderer Art. Der jetzige Zugang durch einen Torturm führt über eine 80 m lange Auffahrt (17. Jhdt.) zum eigentlichen Burgtor und zum fünfeckigen Burghof mit sehenswerten, doppelgeschoßigen Renaissancelauben und Außentreppe und der Nikolauskapelle mit gotischen Fresken (ca. 1350 bis 1360). Von diesem gelangt man auch zum Burgfried, von dem sich ein wunderbarer Ausblick ins Tal der Drau, ins Rosental eröffnet.
