Schloss Rosegg im Rosental wurde 1772 vom Fürsten Orsini-Rosenberg für seine italienische Geliebte, Madame Lucrezia, erbaut. Das Schloss erinnert sehr stark an die italienischen „Brentavillen“, Orsini-Rosenberg verbrachte einige Jahre in Italien und wollte mit diesem Sommersitz im Herzen von Kärnten, etwas italienisches Flair heraufbringen!
Das Mobilar und viele Teile der Ausstattung sind noch aus dieser Zeit!
Der 2. Besitzer des Schlosses Rosegg war Peter Ritter von Bohr. Finanzberater des Kaisers und seines Zeichens auch der langgesuchte Geldfälscher. Er war es, der den heutigen Tierpark in Rosegg begründete. Hiezu lies er die Burg der nahegelegenen „Raser Ritter“ abtragen und aus den Steinen die Tierparkmauer errichten, welche heute noch die Begrenzung des Wildparkes ist. Von Bohr behielt das Schloss Rosegg aber nur für 2 Jahre. Vielleicht hat er das schöne Schloss nur zum Reinwaschen seines Falschgeldes gebraucht?
Seit 1831 befindet sich das Schloss Rosegg im Besitz der Familie von und zu Liechtenstein. Fürst Johannes von Liechtenstein, erwarb das Schloss von Peter Ritter von Bohr für einen seiner Söhne. Heute bietet das Schloss den Rahmen für Sommerveranstaltungen, Konzerte, Theater und beherbergt das stimmungsvolle Schlosscafé.
