Directions

Starting at the parish church, you leave Ferlach heading west. Cross the main square to reach Rosental Straße, which you follow for a short distance in the direction of Klagenfurt before turning left onto Andreas-Ebner-Weg. The asphalt road soon turns into a path and, without changing direction, you walk along it until you finally reach Loiblpass Straße. Cross the main road to the west and walk past the "Ratz" bathing lake in Kirschentheuer to the south. After the lake, keep right at a fork in the road, cross the tracks of the Rosentaler Nostalgiebahn, take the next road to the left at the wayside shrine and walk via the village of Laiplach to Kappel an der Drau (Ferlach - Kappel a. d. Drau: 4.8 km). Continue west from the church to Weizelsdorf. Here you keep left before the railroad underpass and now walk parallel to the tracks to St. Johann im Rosental (Kappel a. d. Drau - St. Johann i. Rosental: approx. 3 km). Before you reach the church, a path to the right leads to the main road. Cross this road, walk past the fire station (middle path) and follow this road for approx. 600 m before turning left at the level of a small settlement (to the right of the road) and walking via Hundsdorf to Sala. After a few meters you reach the Drau road L 106, keep right here at first and then turn left onto the Drau cycle path after about 200 m before the Drau bridge. After another 200 m, follow the signs to the campsite/Gasthaus Juritz to the left and then turn right at the next fork in the road (north of the campsite). You now continue straight ahead to Suetschach (St. Johann i. Rosental - Suetschach: approx. 5.6 km). Here you turn right and walk to the Drau cycle path, along which you continue to the Sport & Family Resort WAHAHA. Cross the resort to the north and, before reaching the main road, turn right onto a cycle path that leads directly to the bridge at Suhagraben. Here you cross the small Dürrenbach stream at a wooden bridge and continue along the Drau cycle path in a loop to St. Oswald and onwards until you reach the main road again. The route now heads west along the sidewalk for a short distance, then turns left towards the train station and finally reaches the start of Maria Elend via a path at the edge of the forest (Suetschach - Maria Elend: approx. 7.2 km). Follow the road along the sidewalk into the village and turn left towards the pilgrimage church. Leave Maria Elend again to the west along the road and after around 500 m you come to a crossroads. Turn left here and follow the road to Tallach. Just before reaching the Rosenbach stream, the path now leads northwards towards the main road, as the cycle path bridge can no longer be used due to the recent storms. Cross the sidewalk of the road bridge to the first crossroads, turn left here and after around 500 m you reach the old route again, which now leads westwards to the large crossroads at the fire station. Now it is only a short distance to the church of St. Jakob, the destination of the day's stage (Maria Elend - St. Jakob i. Rosental: 4.5 km).
