Hochosterwitz Castle

The castle Hochosterwitz is one of the top excursion destinations in Carinthia and can be reached by car from Lake Wörthersee in only about 30 minutes.

The imposing castle with its 14 gates is one of the most worth seeing fortified buildings in Austria and is especially popular with families. The 150-metre-high castle hill is easy to hike and reveals many of its secrets, such as the construction of the gates and fortified walls.

In the main castle at the top of the Hochosterwitz a restaurant and a museum are waiting for the small and big visitors, who can take a well-deserved rest here in the shade of big trees.
