The Big Band Wörthersee developed from the school band of the then private music school in Pörtschach.
Over time, a "complete" big band with a singer and vocalist was established. Jonny Traar and Herwig Peterz, as former founding members, still play today. Rehearsals have been held for many years at Gasthof Kalles in Wölfnitz.
The band has been led by Wilfried Truntschnig for over 10 years; vocals: Fiona Meinhardt-Kasparek, Elisabeth Monder, and Heimo Orter.
The band primarily dedicates itself to big band swing, blues, jazz, and Dixieland.
