Klagenfurter Hütte hike - a nature experience in the heart of the Karawanken
The starting point for this scenically impressive hike is the summer parking lot in front of the Johannsenruhe in the idyllic Bärental valley. Shortly after the start, an impressive backdrop of steep rock faces, dense forests and pristine alpine scenery opens up.
The well-marked trail initially leads leisurely along the forest road through shady mixed forest. After a few hairpin bends, the forest thins out and offers a view of the striking peaks of the Karawanken.
The trail is always easy to follow and varied. The diverse flora along the path is particularly attractive in early summer.
After around 1.5 to 2 hours of walking, you finally reach the Klagenfurter Hütte at 1,664 meters above sea level. Nestled in an impressive rock arena, it not only offers a well-deserved rest stop but also a perfect starting point for further alpine mountain tours.

From Villach via St. Jakob and Maria Elend on the main road to Feistritz im Rosental, here after the Lausegger inn and before the Billa, turn right into Bärental.
From Klagenfurt via Kirschentheuer to Feistritz im Rosental, here after the Billa and before the Lausegger inn turn left into Bärental.
Follow the partly somewhat narrow asphalt road for approx. 5 km, past the large (winter) parking lot at the former Stouhütte and on the gravel road for approx. 2 km to the summer parking lot.

Directions
From the summer parking lot, follow the markings along the forest road and along the trail to the Matschacher Alm and the Klagenfurter Hütte.
