Once upon a time, due to the scarcity of land in the Drava plain, the settlers created their little paradise up here: fertile fields, lush meadows, lush orchards. Iron processing flourished, and the barrel-making industry has been a source of income up to the present day. The glacier-formed landscape also holds numerous treasures: the table mountain "Gupf", the ice age relics in Hintergupf, the idyllic Freibacher reservoir and the legendary Hochobir peak.

Directions

Leaving the village center, the trail leads past the vicarage and pretty farms. Along the way, there are always enchanting views of fertile fields, lush green meadows and quietly grazing cattle. After a somewhat steeper ascent, you reach the Gupf "table mountain" - where you are rewarded with a unique panoramic view down into the Rosental valley. The trail leads back to the starting point via small hamlets and villages with great views.
