From Zell-Freibach through the Koschuta valley to the Koschutahaus

This beautiful half-day hike in the heart of the Karawanken mountains captivates with grandiose views of the bizarre northern walls of the Koschuta.

From Klagenfurt via Ferlach to Zell-Freibach. Shortly after the Zell-Schaida turnoff, a road to the sports field "igrišče" turns off to the right. Follow this road to the sports field. Park here.

Directions

From the sports field, follow the gravel road. Pass an old farmstead and meadows and follow the Freibach stream and trail marker 603 (Südalpenweg). At approx. 1400 m above sea level, leave the forest road on the left and follow hiking trail no. 603 to the Mejniksattel. This is the highest point of the hike. (If you wish, you can also climb the "summit" of Mejnik in a few minutes). Descend steeply over roots and follow the beautiful hiking trail to the Koschutahaus. From here, take the toll road and the hiking trail down to Zell Pfarre.
