Family hike St. Margareten in the Rosental

The most beautiful vantage point in the Rosental valley can now be experienced by the whole family. Take a day out and set off with your loved ones on a hike that will reward you with a breathtaking panoramic view over the entire Rosental valley. The trail leads along the Auschleife, past the Kucherau bathing lake, steadily uphill to Trieblach and further up to the Gupf, to the Schuschnig snack station. On a clear day, you can even see as far as Villach from there. But that's not all: for budding naturalists, we recommend a detour to the glacier ground, which allows you to travel back to our most recent ice age. The glacier polish is the only contemporary witness that can still tell us about the Drautal Glacier. 20,000 years ago, it stretched its icy tongue from Upper Carinthia to just before Griffen. For those interested in culture, we recommend a visit to St. Thomas Church with its baroque interior before returning.

Directions
Start: Rosental campsite
in the direction of Dullach, as far as the Kucher Au. Continue in the direction of St.
Margareten (1H), at the Plumpf estate, turn left onto the hiking trail
2H, turn right again at the Jancic riding stables, past
the Plahsnig estate. Before the Pelk farm, take the
hiking trail 12H to Oberdörfl (2H). Cross the main road
towards Helm, through the forest to the Jager estate, past
the Tautscher, Tschatschof and Paulin farms to St.
Margareten. Along the main road towards Ferlach, at
Bildstock take hiking trail 7H towards Dullach and continue
to the campsite.
